THE USSC CHAPLAIN MISSION
The United States Service Command Chaplain Mission is dedicated to providing and performing pastoral support in diverse settings, guided by the opportunities presented by the Lord. Our chaplains are commissioned with ranks similar to military grades to establish precise levels of seniority and expectation.
Critical Functions of the Chaplain Corps:
- Clergy Qualification and Placement:
- The Service Command Chaplain Corps is a clergy-qualifying agency.
- Volunteer chaplains are placed in Military Entrance Processing Stations and other federal facilities like military chaplains.
- The legitimacy of Service Command chaplains is assured to federal entities such as USMEPCOM, Veterans Administration medical facilities, the federal prison system, and others.
- Training and guidelines are provided to protect both the chaplain and their supervisor.
- Recognition and Endorsement:
- The Armed Forces Chaplain Board recognizes the Service Command—the US Department of Defense’s approval agency for federally approved Chaplain Endorsers.
The mission of the USSC Chaplain Corps:
- Serve the USSC membership by being a reminder of the divine and fostering an environment that encourages and assists in personal and collective moral and spiritual growth.
- Facilitate the free exercise of religion in disaster situations and all other service fields.
- Train chaplains and supporting members to fulfill the mission and uphold the values of the United States Service Command, nurturing the living, caring for the dying, and honoring the dead.
- Enter every door the Lord opens, spreading God’s News to every soul.
